Records of commissions for county elective officers, 1898-1963,1969-1978.

The series contains commission certificates for individuals who were elected to local government positions from 1898 to 1963. There is a gap in the record from 1964 to 1968. The certificates were filed with the Secretary of State according to Chapter 113.06 F.S. Each certificates specifies: the name of the person being commissioned; the office title; the term of office; official signatures of the Governor and Secretary of State; and occasionally the date of filing of the oath and bond by the commissioned officer. Certificates after 1969 bear registration numbers and are no longer bound in volumes. Certificates with CE prefix indicate terms of office that begin in January; an SE prefix indicates that a term begins in a month other then January. The State and County Directories (Series 1284) serve as the index to this series.
